HURRICANES ETA & IOTA

Hurricanes Eta & Iota

When Hurricanes Eta and Iota devastated Central America late in the 2020 Hurricane Season as two back-to-back Category 4 Hurricanes, Sol Relief was desperate to help.  We quickly realized that flying supplies to the areas was not the most efficient course of action.  Instead, we teamed up with local community leaders on the ground who have been able to facilitate the logistics of buying food and supplies locally and delivering them to the families in the most dire need as quickly as possible.  Although Sol Relief has not flown any supplies to the areas devastated by Eta and Iota, we have found that simply getting funds into the right hands on the ground can provide the fastest and most effective relief while also stimulating the local economy.

Hurricane Eta caused massive devastation and flooding in Honduras and Nicaragua. As a result of the devastation caused by the major hurricane the people need your help! We are continuously doing needs assessments and have identified trusted local organizations to support on the ground.

In Nicaragua, we are reaching Puerto Cabezas, Walakitang and the villages along the Rio Coco River. In Honduras, we are supporting families in the shelters in Tegucigalpa, Lima, Cortes and Valle de Sula.

How can you help? Please make a donation on the form below which will be sent to these communities for immediate aid. 100% of the donations go to the country to purchase supplies locally. Our network of local organizations and community leaders will then make purchases locally, and will  be distributing to hard to reach areas.

BAY NEWS 9 ARTICLE

Thank you to #BayNews9 for their continued coverage highlighting the aftermath of back-to-back major #HurricaneEta and #HurricaneIota, which have left parts of Central America devastated.

We continue to work with local organizations on the ground in Nicaragua and Honduras to provide food, water, hygiene, medical supplies, clothing, and tin to rebuild their roofs.

At this time, we are asking for monetary donations only as it is the most effective and efficient way to help the people of these devastated communities.
