Abaco Hurricane Shelter & Community Center Groundbreaking - GlobalGiving campaign

We are excited to share with you our most recent progress in Abaco. We recently partnered with Disaster Reconstruction Authority to build a hurricane shelter and community center for our friends in Abaco that is expected to be completed by summer 2021. This state of the art facility will not only provide the community with a place to bring families together, but also provide a safe haven during a storm. This project has been underway for months now and Sol Relief has an been an integral part of the planning and design of the community center. We are proud to say that we are the largest donor for this project and we are thrilled to be a part of such an amazing endeavor.

The planning and building of this community center has been a passion project of ours, so much so that we wanted to use it as the focus for our first crowdfunding campaign that we recently started on the GlobalGiving platform.   The purpose of this campaign is to help raise funds that will go toward the cost of the hurricane shelter/community center and bring awareness to our long-term recovery efforts in Abaco. The completion of this campaign is part of a vetting process with GlobalGiving to become one of their partners. The benefits of partnering with GlobalGiving include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Raise funds towards the building of a Hurricane Shelter and Community Center in Abaco
  • Assistance with grants and grant writing
  • Introduction to potential corporate partners
  • Help in disaster response efficiency

We are looking for assistance from our supporters to help us reach our goal of $5k from a minimum of 40 unique donors in order to graduate and become a GlobalGiving partner. Funds raised for this project will go toward the building and completion of the Abaco Hurricane Shelter and Community Center.
